Mutes (César de Barros Amorim)
Mutes (César de Barros Amorim) was born in 1976 in Margny-lès-Compiègne, France. He returned to Portugal in 1986 and currently resides in Arcos de Valdevez. A self-taught painter, Mutes is renowned for his distinctive style known as DesCubism Contourism. Since 2004, he has exhibited his work regularly, earning representation in numerous national and international collections across several continents.
A passionate advocate of Cubism, Mutes has held over two hundred exhibitions, both in Portugal and abroad. Since 2018, he has collaborated with the "Maintenant" Dadaist Movement in New York, USA. In addition to his prolific exhibition schedule, Mutes has curated various exhibitions since 2012.
His artistic achievements have been recognized with several prestigious awards. In 2016, he won the Art Prize Picasso at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. The following year, he received an Honorable Mention at the Brick Lane Gallery in London. In 2021, he was awarded a creativity medal at the Von Zeidler Art Gallery in Berlin, among many other accolades in the art world.
